The following information shows that as a demonstration product, Micro S’mores WORKS! Apply the details of this approach and its execution at any other fair, festival, mall cart, or selling venue, and achieve success!
**Coming Soon: Video footage of the Gooeylicious Team at work at the Blomsburg Fair…Stay Tuned!
Display
The whole theme for the booth: clean and simple. We used a basic setup consisting of one table and a few plastic shelving units. The table was split into two levels: a lower level that was used to display items and an upper level used to demonstrate the product. One (1) foot risers were used on the back half of the table to create the second level, making demonstrations easier, more comfortable. The front display level alternated between recipe cards and clear, glass jars containing basic s’more ingredients (one with all marshmallows, another with unwrapped chocolate bars, and another with graham crackers).
The microwave was placed on a shelving unit located directly behind the table for easy viewing during the demonstration. The other two units sat to the side and behind the first unit; these housed the Micro S’mores cookers which served as both an impressive display and allowed for easy access to the product.
One 10′ x 3′ banner was hung up behind the booth and two other signs advertising $1.99 s’mores were displayed to grab people’s attention.

Demonstration
We simply built s’mores before their very eyes, and cooked them perfectly in the microwave in only 10 seconds. To really impress them, we used different chocolate/candy (peanut butter cups, peppermint candies, gummy worms, etc.), marshmallows (strawberry, toasted coconut), and different items other than regular grahams (chocolate flavored ones, fudge-striped cookies, butter cookies, etc.).
The Pitch
Micro S’mores tend to sell themselves, but a few key points helped the demonstration. We talked through the demonstration explaining that due to the patented “Core Fusion Technology” of the Micro S’mores cooker, the marshmallow gets heated from the inside-out and the chocolate melts perfectly all while the graham crackers stay crisp (never soggy).
We also used the following key phrases:
-
The 10 Second Treat that’s Fun to Eat!
-
Make S’mores Indoors all year long!
-
No Fire, No Burning, No Mess!
-
Get the Perfect S’more everytime!
-
GOOEYLICIOUS!
Additional selling points: S’mores come out warm not hot; Perfect for kids! Micro S’mores make great Christmas, Birthday, Housewarming gifts! Make great gift baskets with Micro S’mores cooker, various s’more ingredients, and other decorative/holiday pieces for a unique, one-of-a-kind gift!
Pricing
Normally on TV/QVC, Micro S’more kits were buy one get one free and cost $19.95 plus shipping and handling. We told people this, then told them that as a special price at the show, they could buy them for $12 each, 2 for $20, OR the best value, 3 for only $25. This pricing strategy proved to be extremely successful.
Additional Promotion
As an extra promotional activity, we decided on the last day of the fair to hand out promo cards advertising $.99 and FREE s’mores (as opposed to $1.99). We handed them out a fair distance from our booth so as to peak people’s interest before they even saw the Micro S’mores stand!
And, IT WORKED! As a result of these cards, people walked straight up to our booth, and watched the one minute demo. This ultimately led to more sales as people snacked on their freshly-made, gooeylicious s’mores!
Conclusion
Micro S’mores was incredibly successful as a demonstration product. People loved it and saw it’s immense potential as a gift item or as a new kitchen gadget in their own homes!
